Physiotherapy is a multifaceted treatment approach to many neuromusculoskeletal ailments in order to relieve pain, improve strength, mobility, and balance. Physiotherapy is also utilized by athletes of all types to help improve their physical performance during and between seasons. Physiotherapists can be found in clinics, hospitals, or even on the sidelines of sporting events. Each registered physiotherapist will typically have a bachelors and masters degree education in topics such as anatomy, physiology, biology, chemistry, physics, microbiology, and psychology.

During your first visit, the physiotherapist will first conduct a subjective examination where they will listen to what brings you into the clinic and ask questions that pertain to your individual experience of your ailment. The next step is always a thorough physical assessment including specific tests to examine joint range of motion, muscle strength, nerve tension, functional movements, and orthopaedic special tests. From this point an assessment is made and your physiotherapist will work with you to develop a treatment plan that will enable you to achieve your physiotherapy goals, and when to return.

Treatment may include but is not limited to:

Manual therapy: joint mobilizations, soft tissue massage, neural glides

Education: post-operative protocols, movement modification, heat/ice use, postural advice, diagnosis-specific questions

Exercise: to increase the body’s capacity to tolerate stress and strain of daily life. The physiotherapist will work with you to develop a program that is at your level and integrated into the past-times/hobbies you already enjoy doing. Home exercise plans are provided electronically (or printed - on request) to ensure that you have a detailed record of all your exercises with clear videos and instructions.

Our chiropractors take a multidisciplinary approach to treat our patients. They also have an extensive knowledge of sports and sports-related injuries. This means that they’re uniquely qualified to diagnose and treat an athlete’s body without the use of drugs or invasive surgical procedures. Because chiropractic medicine is defined by its hands on approach to treatment and sport-specific knowledge that addresses acute, chronic and overuse injuries, it’s becoming an increasingly popular way to stay in the game.

Whether you're an avid athlete or weekend warrior, baby boomer or mom working hard to keep up with her little ones, chiropractic care will enhance your ability to do what matters most to you. By identifying the root cause of an injury or condition, our doctors effectively treat any issue. Our focus is taking you beyond corrective care, allowing you to access optimal health and new levels of performance. We don't want to treat you for the same issue over and over again - we want to see you grow, progress and thrive.

Our doctors love treating patients who are motivated to participate in their journey to elevate and maintain their health. We're family-friendly and inclusive; whether we're helping children through their growth spurts and ever-changing developmental stages or supporting parents who're getting their bodies back in motion, we feel grateful to play a role in each family member's health. Osteopathy is a patient-centered approach to health. It is guided by principles relating to the patient as a whole. The body is a self-regulating, functional unit in which function and structure are inter-related, and healthy tissues require proper circulation of all body fluids.

Skilled palpation and a detailed knowledge of anatomy, physiology and biomechanics guide the Osteopath to assess and restore balance within and between all the systems of the body; musculoskeletal, cardiovascular, neurological, cranial and visceral.

In health, the body seeks to maintain a balance within and between these systems. The Osteopath uses a wide array of manual approaches to reduce and resolve strains, stress and dysfunction in all areas of the body. The goal is to remove restrictions to vascular, neural and biomechanical mechanisms and ultimately support the natural healing mechanism by promoting autoregulation.

**PLEASE NOTE** We have had some cases where Canada Life has not accepted Osteopath receipts from patients for reimbursement under their Osteopath coverage. If you have Canada Life Insurance, please contact Canada Life prior to booking, and ask for written/emailed confirmation that they will reimburse you. Thank you for your understanding.

Chris Lanza is born and raised in Burlington, Ontario but has recently moved to Calgary with his wife and son. He received his Diploma of Acupuncture in 2011 and his Diplom of Eastern Herbal Medicine in 2013 from The Institute of Traditional Medicine in Toronto. He is a Registered Acupuncturist and Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM) Practitioner with the province of Alberta.

People always ask Chris how he became interested in Chinese Medicine…After graduating with his Bachelor of Arts from King’s College at the University of Western Ontario he was unsure of the type of career he wanted to pursue. Over the years he became fascinated with Quantum Mechanics, which examines the physical phenomenon of energy and matter at the microscopic level. It didn’t take long to stumble upon some information concerning acupuncture. This was an ‘A-ha’ moment for Chris. Immediately he was able to draw the link between Quantum Mechanics and the healing energy used by the body during acupuncture. How was it possible that Chinese healers have understood for 5000 years the relatively new science of Quantum Mechanics? His driving motivation for his career choice was the quote, ‘Do what you love for a living and you will never work another day in your life.’ Two months later he found himself in a class room learning about this ancient healing modality and hasn’t looked back since. He has always been fascinated with the mystery of the human body and ways to achieve a balanced, healthy life. For Chris the feeling of being able to heal another human being is truly one of the best there is and he never tires from it.

Chris’ training in TCM includes acupuncture, Chinese herbal medicine, Tuina (Chinese massage), cupping, Qi Gong (meditation with movement), Eastern nutrition, as well as other advanced courses in holistic medicine and alternative modalities of treatment.

In addition to Chris’ formal program, he has attended many seminars taught by the leaders of TCM in North America. As a result he has learned several different strategies to natural healing. If your body does not respond to one approach, there are others to try. Specifically, Chris has completed his certification as an Acupuncture Detoxification Specialist under the National Acupuncture Detoxification Association (NADA). This technique is internationally known for its efficacy in treating all forms of addiction, as well as alleviating emotional and mental stress.

Chris is passionate about supporting people on their path to total wellness by working with the body’s natural healing abilities to achieve harmony in mind, body and spirit.
